It really pays to have a birthday IF you are signed up with as many loyalty programs as I am.
I’ve always been a sucker for loyalty programs at both restaurants and my favorite places to shop and one way companies that offer incentives and discounts in exchange for your repeat patronage is by acknowledging your birthday. This year I was hell bent on not letting any free stuff expire, like I’ve always done in the past. As a result, my family and I been celebrating my special day all month long!
SIDE NOTE: If you’re a fan of loyalty programs too, but don’t want to carry a bunch of cards in your wallet or have them annoyingly dangling from your key chain, I highly recommend getting the app, Key Ring. It’s free and super easy to use and will keep all of your loyalty cards in one convenient place, right on your smart phone. Plus, it alerts you of current offers, discounts and sales!
If you have a iPhone 4s or higher, there is also a pre-installed app called Passbook with similar features… or so I’m told.
Anyway, here is a short list of all the cool stuff I’ve enjoyed for my birthday month:
Free burger at Red Robin
Free bagel and cream cheese at Bruegger’s Bagels
Free beverage at Starbucks
Free small frozen yogurt atย Pinkberry
2x the bonus points on all purchases all month at Ulta
30% off at Cost Plus World Market
Complimentary cookie at Boudin
Free birthday sundae at Ruby’s
15% off entire purchase at Anthropologie
$5.00 off entire purchase at DSW
20% off entire purchase at Muttropolis
Free dessert at True Food
Free dessert at Island’s
Buy One Get One at Soup Plantation
Who doesn’t love free stuff?ย
The makers of Key Ring did not endorse this post, nor did they acknowledge my birthday in any way.

Wow, that’s awesome! I get excited about stuff like this but I don’t usually use it. I do love the coupons from World Market though. ๐
Glad you enjoyed your birthday “treats”! ๐

Holy crap! You know how to do your birthday right! And I always forget about what loyalty programs I am in until I get a little card or email that reminds me about my free beverage or whatever. So fun!
Tonya says
Sign up now!! I’ve always been and let everything expire. Birthday month rocks!!
Jennifer says
You know, I’ve never ever considered doing something like this. I had no idea businesses even did things like that.
Tonya says
YES!! And probably so many more that I am aware of. I love my birthday month and even more so that I took advantage of all these cool freebies.
Jackie says
Wow… I like loyalty programs but always forget to sign up! I need to do that now with my bday coming up soon.
Tonya says
Do it soon!! It’ll just make your birthday that much sweeter.
Alison says
I cannot think of a better way to celebrate a birthday month. All those free desserts! And Anthropologie discount!
Tonya says
Yes… you almost have to have a coupon to shop at Anthro it’s so dang expensive. And free desserts? Who can say no?!
Leah says
Wow! That’s insane! I can’t believe all that! But the problem with all that is finding the time to go to all those places. How long typically do you have? It’s not just on your birthday?? One you forgot is Sephora. That’s my one and only one.
Tonya says
I had a month to use all of the perks, it was awesome. In fact I have a couple that don’t expire until the end of July. I have a Sephora Beauty Insider and didn’t get anything from them. What’s their birthday offer?
