If you don’t know who Jessica of My Time As Mom is, you must be living under a rock.
It truly is as simple as that.
First of all, she has a wonderful blog, is ALWAYS! on Twitter, is a Social Media Specialist for Eli Rose and co-founder of Vlog Talk, a weekly vlog meme. On top of all that, she is a killer Scrabble player ( speaking as the opponent who ass she kicks all the time) and is the kindest and most helpful person I probably have ever encountered.
I am so happy to have Jessica here today sharing a letter to her sister, Victoria.
To My Sister,
We have always been opposites.
From our hair to our shoes to our personalities.
The expressions salt and pepper and night and day have been used to describe us many times.
We have had our ups and downs in life.
We have laughed over stupid jokes and mom’s hair.
We have cried over the loss of family members and other things that I can’t remember.
We went many months without speaking to each other.
But we have always been sisters.
And we will always be sisters.
I know we don’t talk as often as we should and I don’t tell you I love enough.
But I do and my life wouldn’t be the same without you.
Although if I was you, I would recommend that you not listen to me the next time I tell you to shove a sock in your mouth.
Thank you so much Tonya for allowing me to share this letter to my sister. I sent it to her on her birthday last week and it made her cry.
Sweet letter, Jessica. There’s nothing like a sister relationship. Cute picture too!
Thank you Alison!
This just brought tears to my eyes. There is nothing like that sister bond. My sister and I have certainly had our ups and downs, but through it all, we’ve always been there for each other.
Great letter, Jessica!
My sister and I have had many downs but we always come back together and enjoy the ups.
This is beautiful, and I love that picture!
Thank you Katie! I love this picture too.
What a sweet letter! You two look totally opposite. My question is, Does your sister like porn martinis?
That is a good question. Last time she came over she had a blood orange margarita instead of a porn martini.
Sweetness! I think I’ll forward this to my sister-except the sock part 😉
Ha! Yes, change the sock part to something stupid you did to your sister.
This is why I’m so glad I have 2 girls. I missed out on having a sister growing up!
It really is a special bond to have a sister.
You are guys are like S&P, so sweet! Sisters are awesome, you are so lucky to have one…. xo
We have always been opposites of each other.
That’s really sweet. I know what that’s like, I have two sisters. I can’t live without them but sometimes I can’t live with them either.
That’s how it goes sometimes with siblings.
Salt and pepper compliment most dishes!
Yes they do.
I always wanted a sister and my brother and I have such a huge gap. Every day i hope and pray that my girls will have a great bond as they grow older because, yes, they are so very different.
Like chalk and cheese as we say or salt and pepper — which i like … – what a blessing!
Chalk and cheese is a strange combination but I hope they have a great bond as they get older.
My sister & I don’t even look related…and she was a planned only child. You can imagine how (un)happy she was when I ruined that monopoly. 😉
She’s still my sister, though, and we’ll defend each other to our graves…even if we aren’t speaking to each other.
Very sweet letter.
I bet she harassed you plenty to make up for ruining that monopoly.
So sweet and makes me want a sister yet again. You two are both GORGEOUS!
I hope your children grow up to have strong bonds.
Beautiful words and gorgeous picture!
And ohmygod- the sock! I die.
Yeah, the sock pulled out one of her teeth. It was pretty funny when we were kids.
sisters!!!!! I am so in touch with this feeling…I love her, I hate her, she drives me crazy, she knows me MORE than any person in the whole world.
I love that picture and the Salt & Pepper line, it reminds me so much of how different my sister and I are…and how much I adore her, would do anything for you and would beat up anyone who hurt a hair on her head.
Loved it.
My sister and I have always been up and down in our relationship but as we grow older it seems we are able to get along better.
I really, really love the photo of the two of you!
Thanks! Me too.
I think we need a full background on that sock story.
That’s a truly gorgeous picture . . . I have to imagine that all of the kids in your neighborhood, growing up, were uggos, because it looks like you stole all of the pretty.
I made my sister put a sock in her mouth as a kid and when she pulled it out and tooth came out too.
What a sweet letter! I need to tell my sister these things sometimes, we are also complete opposites.
It’s funny to see how siblings can be so opposite.
so sweet & i swear you could be describing my sister and I!
It seems many of us are opposites of our siblings.
Great picture. Sisters are the best, I have two of them. So many fun times together.
Lots of fun times together.
Thank you for writing this. You mean so much to me and I look up to you more than you know. I love you so much!!… And don’t worry, no more socks (because I’ve already lost all my baby teeth) and I certainly won’t listen when you hand me a razor!!!
It seems you are getting smarter in your old age sister. 😉
Aw, sweet. Makes me miss my sister. She just had a birthday too and I couldn’t be there. Cute picture of you two!
It’s difficult to live far away from family sometimes.
That is such a great photo of the two of you! What a sweet letter – I’m sure they were happy tears. I think I need to see your mom’s hair now. 😉
Dude, my mom’s hair is hilarious sometimes. I should do a post about it.
Makes me thing of my sister. So special!
I’m happy to hear it made you think of your sister.
Awww I’ve always wanted a sister! Happy birthday to her and may you guys have many more years full of sisterly banter! 🙂
It’s definitely been an experience to have a sister. I hope my two girls appreciate each other as they get older.
So sweet…It’s crazy how different you guys look but even that isn’t as strong as your love for each other. Happy Birthday to you sister!
We are complete opposites in our looks. Sometimes I can’t believe we are related.
What a beautiful letter to your sister. And that picture? Pure joy.
Thank you Roxanne!
I gave my sister a pillow once that said “I’m smiling because you’re my sister and I’m laughing because there’s nothing you can do about it.”
I know exactly what you’re saying here…and you did a great job saying it. I’ll bet she did cry a bunch!
Now that’s a good saying.
I love this. My sister and I are opposites too, and we have a very special relationship. Sisters really are awesome, aren’t they?
They are awesome and I hope my girls realize this.
What a sweet letter. And a lovely picture as well.
Thank you! I love this picture.
Love it! And that picture of you two is gorgeous! My two girls are opposites too, but I hope they grow up to appreciate and love each other.
I hope they do too.
sweet letter! you two are beautiful. 🙂
Thank you Cam!
Awwww, so sweet Jessica!!! I can see why your sister got a little teary-eyed. There’s nothing better than sisters 🙂
Sisters are great for so many reasons.
So sweet!
Thank you!
I love that photo! And your letter to your sister is perfect. I’m sure she loved it!
Thank you Jacqui. I think she did.
How cute are you two? (Seriously. How cute!)
I love this series and the fact that people share special words for others with us…
It makes me think (really) about the people I should thank or reconnect with or REMIND how much I care; how grateful I am to have them in my life.
So thanks Tonya for creating the lovely Letters for You; and thanks Jessica for making me want to go call Nancy right now.
XO
You’re welcome and thank you!
I hope to see you have a letter featured here. I would love to read your special words.
Nothing beats the bond of a sister, high or low – can’t compare!
So true.
Sisters always have each others back even if they are making each other eat toenail sandwiches 🙂 So who is older?
That’s nasty but I’m sure I would have tried it on my sister if I could have when we were younger.
I’m older by 2 years.
I love this and have always yearn for a sister – So I am so thankful for my 3 girls…the eldest two remind me of the two of you – so different.
I hope your girls grow up to have a very special bond.
Great post Jessica. Your relationship with your sister reminds me of my gf’s relationship wit her sister. Sometimes they fight and don’t talk to each other for awhile but at the end of the day they love each other.
Exactly. At the end of the day you are still family and that’s what’s important.
what a lovely post and a great picture of you two!
Thank you! I love this picture of me and my sister.
That is SO sweet. My sister and I are the best of friends–I love that sister bond
The sister bond is a wonderful thing to have.
This is such a sweet letter and I love the picture at the end! I’m a sister and love it. Wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. My sister and I have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, we’re best friends.
So happy to hear your sister is your best friend.
That’s awesome Jessica. You look quite different!
Thanks Robin! We’ve always looked complete opposites.
What a beautiful letter Jessica!
Thank you Rachel!
What an amazing letter and I love that she really did give it to her on birthday this year. Sometimes I think we are total opposites too but then I turn around and laugh or cry at something and I know that you would be the only to do the same thing right along with me. 🙂 XOXOX Love you dear sister.
