We only have one bathtub in our house and it’s in the master bathroom.
After Lucas has a bath, his favorite thing to do is rush out of the bathroom completely naked and dripping wet and jump and “wrestle in bed”, as he calls it with his dad.
The roughhousing turns into a game of struggling to get Lucas’ pajamas on.
It’s good physical fun for Lucas and great bonding time for both of them, so I usually stay away.
They twist and turn and roll all over the big king-sized bed, pillows are tossed on the floor and laughter can be heard throughout the house. It’s one of my favorite times of the day.
Having no fear or concept of how much his propelling onto his dad’s back may hurt, Todd recently tried to explain to Lucas that he is just a person; a body, made up of water, blood, tissue and bones. Overhearing this from the bathroom, I popped out and asked Lucas what he thought was in his body.
His reply without skipping a beat: “my heart”.
I may have cried a little.

Aww, what a sweet little boy! Sometimes they say stuff like that, completely catch us off guard, and melt us right there on the spot.
We have those color tablets too! My kids adore them!
Tonya says
Yes, kids say the most adorable things sometimes.
I had never seen the tablets before and Luca loves them! Last night we had a purple bath.
Alison@Mama Wants This says
I’m a puddle on the floor. Really.
Love the colored water, that’s so cool!

Tonya says
I LIVE for these moments. Truly.

My boys love sprinting into the living room after a bath or a shower yelling that they “are all nakey” it is a battle to calm them down for jammies.
What a sweet thing for him to say.
Tonya says
I teared up. It was just so sweet. 🙂
Mommy's Paradise says
Yep, the wrestling, I mean the bonding, is very important between the men we are living with. And with our tot it’s the same, he doesn’t know when it’s getting painful for his dad. Sigh. I categorically refuse to wrestle.
Tonya says
I’m not into it either… in our house mommy does not get wrestled.
Robin @ Farewell, Stranger says
Oh, ouch! That one goes right to a mom’s heart, doesn’t it? Such a sweet thing to say.
Tonya says
It was a very proud moment. My sweet boy.
Galit Breen says
Oh my that’s sweet! I would have cried, too!
Tonya says
I know, right? Especially after just hearing all the other cool stuff that makes up our bodies and my little guy goes with heart. Aw.
Jessica says
Such a sweet kid. They always know how to get us.
Tonya says
It’s a good thing, too, right?!
Hopes@Staying Afloat! says
That is just so sweet! I love it when kids say things like that! Bathtime is always an adventure in our house. I swear there is more water out on the floor than in the tub, but its such a fun time and so worth the mess!
Tonya says
Here too. It’s a good *clean* fun. 🙂
Jen Has A Pen says
That’s the sweetest thing. I love a dad and his boy. I’m not sure who makes my heart melt more in those situation. 🙂
Courtney @ The Mommy Matters says
Awww….how sweet!! Sometimes it’s the little things that catch us mommies completely off guard and cause those random tears. I’ll have to check out that bath stuff. My kiddo would love that!
