If your house is anything like ours, activity begins early. Typically just right of 6 AM, thanks to a 3 foot tall morning person.
Lucky for me, my husband starts his day then too, allowing me the luxury of sleeping in. And by “sleeping in”, I mean 8:00 most days. I’m spoiled, I know.
Todd wakes up to the sounds of “Daddy!” and repeated beckoning, which leads to forceful demanding pleads to play cars and trains, “eat something”, “Mickey show” and/or “read to me”.
We have a small house with wood floors so noises of all kinds, voices and the sounds of temper tantrums, which inevitably lead to time-outs carry throughout.
I’ve grown accustomed to the daybreak racket and can (for the most part) sleep through it, but I always feel bad when my sister (or any guests for that matter) stay the night.
I’d like to make a public apology here and now to Leah and any and all guests we ever have in our home. If you stay over, I can guarantee you two things: a lovely visit filled with good cheap wine and conversation and in the morning, lots of noise! Consider yourself warned.
We appreciate your understanding. I suppose if we all slept 10+ hours we’d be raring to go with the sun too.
Well, maybe.

I give our guests this same warning. We had a friend who wanted to stay with us while she was in town for a wedding and I warned her that there would be little-to-no-sleep! Definitely different in a house w/ kids.

I'm so envious you get to sleep in!

I was too distracted by the fact that you said you can sleep in until 8.00.
I love how Moms classify sleeping in as anything past 6am hee hee!
I bet your guests don't mind the noise one bit. I mean, look at the noisemaker! Cuteness makes up for everything.

Now that the kids are older, they aren't starting their days so early. Thank God. But the house is usually awake & moving by 8am though.
I always warn our guests the night before tha we aren't a quiet house, but I make up for it in good coffee.

Oh, I want to sleep for 10 hours or past 6 am. Sounds so nice!

I'd like to sleep for 10 hours too!!
We give our guests this same warning!
Jessica says
We have this warning posted on our door for everybody to read when they walk in.

Eddie sleeps in, but yeah, it's not quiet here in the morning. Although I think Eddie tends to be quieter than most kids in the morning. He likes to watch TV and play in the morning. He's like his mom…he wakes up slowly and is not a fan of people rushing it 🙂

I love that your husband gets up with Lucas- because 8:00 is most definitely sleeping in!
I bet your guests don't mind a bit- good wine and good company fixes almost everything!

My husband is a morning person too and generally gets up with the kids on his days off which are ever changing, but I've sort of become a morning person too (I just haven't shared that information). I lay in bed with my phone and catch up on my blog reading.

I've gotten pretty good at tuning his noise out at times and falling back to sleep pretty easily when I spend the night at your place. Plus, his little voice is just too cute and endearing to really make me annoyed. The early morning whining however isn't the best thing to hear but I love him so much that I get over it pretty quickly.

Oh, I know. This causes me anxiety. It used to be because of him waking up screaming at night – I totally couldn't take that with guests in the house. But the mornings here are not quiet either.
