Try as I might, I could not get this under four minutes so thank you for watching!
Please let me know if you have questions about my recommendations and definitely share your thoughts too.
In order in which I discussed, my summer reading list includes:
One Amazing Thing – Chitra Divakaruni
Sing You Home – Jodi Picoult
Room – Emma Donoghue
Up From The Blue – Susan Henderson
Incendiary – Chris Cleve
The Writing Circle – Corinne Demas
What are you reading this summer?!

I am reading Exposure by Therese Fowler. It's a novel about the ramifications of teens sending racy photos to each other. Riveting. Reads like a Tom Clancy novel. My teens will be reading it next.

I do not think I could read Room. I know everyone is recommending it, but I just don't think it is for me. I have been wanting to try Jodi Piccoult, is there any specific one of her books you would suggest to try first?
Stephanie says
I am just starting The Hunger Games. Seems really good so far.

I have to say – I'm not a big reader. I have good intentions – but I never finish. I even went as far as starting a book club 5 years ago and to this date, I've only read 3 of the books. I wish I would've taken a book with me when we came to Cali. I did end up having a lot of down time at night that I spent on magazines and could've powered through a book. I love that you're putting the computer & phone down to read again – I need to do that! Or I guess just start reading. š I'm impressed you've read those 4 already this summer. I'd like to read a Jodi Picoult book – maybe I'll start with this one!

I'm intrigued by Room, might get that.
I'm still waiting for my copy of Bossypants (yeah kinda behind on the curve here), so am looking forward to that!

Look at you with all those books! And you sound so coherent in your vlog!
My list would take 0 seconds flat š

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the books you recommended. I will get Room on my next trip to the library.
I mostly read tweets and horse illustrated. Pathetic, I know.
I downloaded Bossy pants 2 months ago. Finished chapter one. If anybody asks, it is so funny I am afraid it will end too soon.

This list made me really miss reading. Once I get through at least The Help I'll be ready to buy some more books. Which one on this list do you recommend I buy first?

I find that Twitter is…just a part of life now rather than ALL of life. It's nice to read again.

I started reading The Invisible Bridge, but it's over 600 pages, and after re-checking it out at the library 3 times they finally cut me off. I wasn't even half-way through it. I am now reading Raising Boys (yes, another parenting book), which is very enlightening.

Great job woman! Room and The Writing Circle sound right up my alley!

I like Sing You Home. That sounds interesting and I am going to go check it out! Room sounds really intriguing too.

What good review! You have a great voice, and it didnāt seem long at all! All of these sound interesting and I now have something to put on my reading list! So glad you included the books in text format as well.
Except for a mini-book on Kindle (The Baby Chase by Holly Finn) I havenāt read anything this summer! I did read āThe Emperorās Tombā by Steve Berry in Dec, and liked how it included some interesting historical and cultural references throughout the plot.

Those all sound really interesting. I haven't done nearly enough reading lately either. I need to follow your lead and do it!
I need to read more Jodi Picoult – I read My Sister's Keeper (way before the movie) and loved it. Love Anita Shreve too.

Have you lent out The Room and Sing You Home? I would like to read those two. Reading is just yet another thing that we have in common and something that we most definitely got from mom and dad. There's nothing better than curling up with a great book and getting totally lost and absorbed in it. Happy reading in Hawaii!
