My sister is so good with Lucas and their relationship is simply endearing to witness.
Lucas’ face lights up whenever we speak of aunt Leah and her visits are always too short.
Leah recently spent five days helping me out while Todd was away on a business trip and I could swear there was more laughter in (and out of) the house.
We have been blessed with some gorgeous sunny winter weather, allowing for some fun in the backyard. Lucas calls it his “park” and since he can’t yet be out there on his own, one or both of us are always out there with him.
On Saturday morning, Leah and I were both lounging on the chaises watching Lucas run around the yard having a great time, when all of a sudden he was sort of over it and wanted to go back inside. Leah and I, on the other hand were enjoying soaking in the sun, not quite ready to start the day and both wanted to stay put.
Leah bounced up and started chasing Lucas around the yard and then he’d turn around and chase her. This is a game Lucas loves and he and I play it often. Leah’s twist on the game was every time she “caught” him, she tackled him to the ground and tickled him.
His laughter was divine. It’s moments like this that make me hope my son and my sister always remain as close as they are today.

I love him more than words can say and I can say for certain that he and I will ALWAYS be close. I promise! I wouldn't have our relationship any other way! He is the one person that can make me forget all my problems and just be happy. XOXO

That is so awesome that they are so close!!
But I really posted to say that I'm SOOOO jealous of your weather! It's currently 20ยบ here and we have multiple feet of snow. Last Friday? It was -30. Yes, that's a negative sign. I thought I lived in Wisconsin, not Antarctica!
Anyway, enjoy that nice weather for both of us!!

I'm sitting here with a frog in my throat.
My children have no aunts or uncles within driving distance. My brother lives in Maine and Craig's brothers aren't close either.
It breaks my heart to think that they won't know that delight that Lucas has when Leah tackles and tickles him.
You're so incredibly fortunate.

I too am jealous. I always envisioned myself as the cool aunt and I've only met 2 of my 3 nephews and only once.
And I feel more and more guilty for not living closer to family and what I may be denying my daughter. I can only do my best to make family of the friends that we have.
But thank you, this was a sweet post.

I am so jealous of the relationship your sister has with your son. It makes me desperately want both. I am moved to tears of joy.

So cute! Don't you just love when they are happy and squealing like little kids do? I bet they will always be close; the best relationships happen naturally, just like theirs.
We've had such great weather, haven't we?

Yes, there is nothing better than hearing a little one laugh!

How lucky Lucas is to have an aunt who loves him soooo much.

So lucky you can be outside (as I look out my window at the rain falling) I am getting some major cabin fever…and my kids are even more so!

So sweet! And don't worry, they will always be close. My nephew and I are closer than ever and he just turned 30. Our relationship has changed over the years, but the love has only grown.

Lucas is so precious! I simply live for the tender moments when my wee ones giggle with such wild abandon. I have two "baby" sisters (now ages 32 & 28) who most likely are never going to have their own children. We are blessed to have them live close. They are my best friends and the children absolutely adore them!
