There is no denying the success of the Lennon/McCartney songwriting duo. Together, they wrote some of the most beautiful and breathtaking lyrics, but the simple and positive message of Lennon’s Imagine gets me every time.
I grew up listening to The Beatles and it was sort of understood in my house that the favorite of the Fab Four was Paul, however, I have always been drawn to John. Particularly because of this song.
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
The anniversary of John Lennon’s death is December 9, 2010.

Ironically, I was having a convo with my brother today about The Beatles. He's a fan, I'm on the fence. He doesn't understand it b/c I love a well-written song. While everyone else in my family are drawn to the chords and music, I like good lyrics.
I've always loved this song though. It has such an optimistic message.

I love the Beatles! Their lyrics are just so timeless and precious. This is definitely one of John Lennon's finest songs.
