The top five things I love about being a mom:
1. My kisses make boo boos all better.
2. I get to play, act really silly, sing and dance, color with crayons, blow bubbles, use sidewalk chalk and squish Play-Doh between my fingers.
3. I love hearing “mommy”, even if it’s three o’clock in the morning.
4. I have to listen to my instincts, go with my gut and trust that the decisions I am making are the “right” ones for my son.
What do you love about being a mom?
I threw this question out on Twitter the other night and here are some of the touching and humorous responses I got (names have been withheld to protect the innocent, sentimental and exhausted), in the order in which they were received:
- Bedtime 😉
- Earlier today my kiddos and I were hanging out on my bed goofing around. I like those moments best.
- I love feeling needed. And I love how proud I am of my son. Every day.
- Not a mom but I crave the chance to relive the wonder of life thru the eyes of an innocent child. To see reactions at tastes and the feeling of sand on their toes the first time they realize it feels different. Reactions to music.
- I love that they are mine.
- The unconditional love you get in return. Kisses & hugs & laughs & funny conversations. & the pride when they succeed/excel.
- What do I love about being a mom? Right now I really love bedtime.
- Little stuff: my kiddo holding my hand, knowing how to make him laugh, comfort him. Big stuff: watching a person I created learn and explore. Passing on my values. Seeing a person emerge.
- I love being there for everything, from small scrapes to huge milestones. I love every second of their lives.
- I love morning bed snuggles and kisses from my 4 yr old who says *I Love You Mama!!*
- I love that I get to nurture and take care of my little ones’ needs.
- I love being called “mama”.
- I love the snuggles. little I love you’s at random times of the day. The idea of a piece of me in them. Seeing myself in them.
- I love pressing my cheek against their little cheeks.
- Coming home from even just the grocery store, and opening the door to huge eyes full of excitement while they are all jumping up and down chanting “mama! mama!”…and Tater says “I missed you so much mom!”

All the above – all true!!

I love bedtime too, especially when it happens before midnight for the little one. Hugs, kisses, and snuggles are always good too.

So true, I love that bedtime was said more than once. I love all of the above too and lately, as they get a little bigger, I love seeing things through their eyes. Every new experience is such an adventure when your little and they take me right along with them.

The new experiences is the one that always gets me. When they experience something for the first time. Like taking our 10 yr old to the beach last year and his eyes when he asked how far that lake went while looking at the Atlantic Ocean. I cracked up when jesse the middle one said , Africa.. priceless

So many reasons to love being a mom – where do we even begin? Although the list here is a good start 🙂

Forgiveness. Unconditional love. Being needed. Seeing their faces light up when they see me. Being someone's number one heart filler and belly filler at that! The pride I feel. I could go on and on!

You are a better mom than me. "Mommy" at 3 am makes me go "Ugh!" 🙂

Thanks for including mine! And I agree with them all. I can relate to the last one too, every single time I leave, my 4-year-old son says, “I love you, I'll miss you, you're the best mommy ever!” Even if it's just a few blocks away to the library. Such a loving little boy!

I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now! I think my Twitter answer made it up there too! Woot!

Well, I am a fan of bedtime as mentioned – but there is nothing better in the world than hearing someone call you Mommy. Nothing. Ever.

I missed a lot of those being a single working mom.
I'm getting my second chance as gramma.

Such a great list. I do feel all those things, including bedtime 😉
I love peeking in and watching him sleep. I get filled up with mama-love at those times.
I love the totally random and unexpected "I love yous" especially when he plants his little lips right on mine.
I also love that being a mom means I get to see my husband being a dad, and I'm in awe of that every day.
I love it when we find our rhythm and things seem to click – cooking together or drawing or playing at the park – and being a mom feels like what I expected it to feel like.

So many wonderful things about being a mother. Thanks for sharing these, Tonya! I just love that I get a front row seat to my son's experience. Every exciting new thing he experiences, I get to be a part of. It's like being a kid all over again. So much joy! Love. Hugs. Kisses. Best job ever!

So cute! I love that Blake is like a little parrot – picking up everything we say. It's so funny when he busts out with something that leaves us wondering, "Where did he learn that?!"

There's a lot I love about being a mom.. Rare snuggles when I can bury my face in her soft, curly hair and hold her close, seeing her grin at me, watching her realize how to do something that I taught her.. And bedtime. Bedtime is also awesome.
Stopped by from the Sunday Funday linkup!

Just read this again for Carri Brown's linkup. I love it. I need to bookmark it.

Wonderful reflections. I love the spontaneous "I wuv you's" and random kisses. The wishes to curl up with me on the couch for a movie instead of sitting in their chairs. Watching them interact lovingly with each other. Hearing them say thank you when a waiter brings them their food. And all of this is because of us.

I've only been a mom for 4 months, but what I love, love, LOVE is the way my daughter sighs and relaxes when she's back in my arms.
